At Sarrin Music Studios, our teachers love guiding students of all ages as they discover and grow their musical abilities. Whether you’re just starting out or already seasoned, your lessons are customized to meet you exactly where you are. Our instructors live and breathe music — and they bring that enthusiasm into every session.
Maggio has over 15 years of teaching experience in classical guitar, as well as rock, jazz, and folk. Maggio grew up in Chelsea and began teaching himself guitar in junior high after friends suggested forming a band. A decision to upgrade his guitar led to long walks around Boston, after which he found a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top in Cambridge. Maggio studied music composition, theory, and history at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. While there, he attended a classical guitar concert on campus and found himself drawn into the intimate magic of a single guitar performance. His formal training in classical guitar includes studying with Bill Buonocore, Neil Anderson, and Berit Strong. He is a member of the Boston Classical Guitar Society and has performed at an award recognition ceremony at the Boston State House. Maggio is also a progressive rocker playing with the band Time and Tide.
Mark Troiano
Troiano knew back in second grade that teaching was his calling. For over twenty years, he’s been helping students of all ages grow — not just as musicians, but as confident, capable people. He teaches voice, guitar, bass, and piano.
He graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where he majored in English and minored in music. A trained vocalist, he directed multiple vocal ensembles during his time there. He recorded five albums with the Wheaton Gentlemen Callers and has also released two solo albums.
Instruments
We offer instruction on a variety of instruments. You can learn to play the acoustic and bass guitars, the ukulele, keyboards, and even drums. We teach at all skill levels – beginner to advanced – start where you are – progress to where you want to be.
Beyond learning instruments, Sarrin Music Studios offers vocal instruction and music reading. Wherever your heart takes you, our instructors will help you bring out the music within you!
